What ride does a swiss VW enthusiast drive when he's living in California (if it isn't his stunning Westfalia camper)? A clean Cal Look bug, of course. This simply beautiful '58 ragtop is owned by our longtime correspondent Alex Guerdat. His idea was to own a subtle and fast Volkswagen. The first goal he achieved with the restoration of this ragtop, the goal of being faster than with the stock 30hp powerplant will soon be achieved with a turbocharged 69 x 94 type 1. More engine details to come, as soon as Alex has finished the engine rebuild.
If you take a look at the interior of this car, you'll notice the nice wooden steering wheel from Moon and the cool but not too comfortable (as Alex told me) bucket seats. Autometer gauges give all the information needed. For now, I already really like the appearance of this car, with a good stance due to the adjustable frontbeam and a carefully lowered rear-end. I can't wait to see more pics of this fine looker and hope that Alex won't wait for too long with the latest pics and info! And you'll be the first to get the first glance, here on www.luftkraft.ch.
